A Basic Yet Effective Skin Routine For Men

You’re never too old or too young to start a daily skincare routine. There’s nothing vain or feminine about it – a guy with a solid, energised face gets noticed. A regular skin care regime will benefit you by keeping your skin clear, smooth and firm.

WHICH OF THESE SKIN TYPES MOST RESEMBLES YOU?

Normal: Your skin is usually oil and doesn’t get dry or irritated easily.

Oily: Your skin has oily patches.

Dry/Sensitive: Your skin gets irritated all over and always feels dry or tight.

Ageing: Your skin looks tired, wrinkled and weathered.

Skincare becomes much easier once you know your skin type.

CLEANSE

WHEN: MORNING & NIGHT

Make sure that you wash your face every morning with a facial cleanser that is designed to help your skin type. Cleansing your face as soon as you wake up freshens you up by getting rid of impurities and dull skin. Before going to sleep at night, always wash your face.

HOW:

Splash warm water on your face or wash your face in the shower. This will opens up your pores and help get rid of any deep impurities. When you’re finished cleansing, rinse it off with cool water then pat your face dry.

Don’t wash your face more than twice a day! Excess face washing sends the sebum glands into overdrive, leading to excess oil. SCRUB

WHEN: MORNING

You should scrub your face between 1 to 3 times a week after washing your face, although your skin type is also a factor. For example; men with oily skin tend to need to exfoliate more than men with dry/sensitive skin.

HOW:

Scrubbing your face is similar to washing your face. Use lukewarm water to wet your face with a little bit of scrub, gently rubbing it around in circles all over your face. Target in on areas where build up and dead tend to appear – common areas are the forehead, neck and nose. When done, rinse with cool water and pat your face dry.

HYDRATE

WHEN: MORNING & NIGHT

Hydrating your face provides several benefits: it prevents water loss, makes the skin firmer and has an incredible anti-ageing effect.

HOW:

After scrubbing or washing, pat your face and dry it gently and apply a face moisturiser. Take special care to hydrate around the forehead and eyes. You don’t need that much product, and you don’t need to rub it in vigorously either. Using just a small amount of face moisturiser every day will keep oil in check and reduce blemishes.

KEEP IT SIMPLE:

Skincare doesn’t need to be complicated. The key is consistency. Work the products into your daily routine.
